Our Ministry

Paulo and Janis's mission is to reach souls with the gospel, planting churches capable of effective evangelistic outreach. In 1995 they joined Tentmakers Bible Mission. Over the years they have planted churches, opened a rehabilitation home for drug addicts, and ministered to needy and street children through camp ministry. Their most recent work has been church planting in the slums of Fortaleza, a city of more than three million people.

About Us

Paulo was born in a small town in the interior of northeast Brazil to a Catholic family and accepted Christ at fifteen in a Baptist church. He moved to the state capital to finish his studies, where he met Janis Johnson, whom he married six years later. He went on to pastor the Baptist Church of Assaré, Brazil.

Janis was born to a missionary family and grew up in Brazil. She accepted Christ at five, was baptized at eleven, and dedicated her life to Christian service. Paulo and Janis married on May 23, 1987, and have three children: Joyce, Jason, and Jonathan.
