Connor Brinkman

My name is Connor. The first thing to know about me is that I am a servant. I enjoy working behind the scenes and caring for the small details that help others. I love teaching too, especially how to defend the faith, but service will always be the foundation of my ministry. The other core of my mission, wherever I am, is a passion for the truth: to understand not only what we believe but why we believe it, where Scripture teaches it, and how to live it out.

I am doing an apprenticeship in Utah alongside two other STEP missionaries, Mitch and Jordan, under Jaramie Fellows, pastor of Grace Bible Church in Tremonton. We are each assigned to one of three Utah churches and rotate between them over several months. Based out of Brigham City, we work part-time to support ourselves and plug into the community, meet weekly as a team, and are pursuing counseling certification. The apprenticeship is preparing us for church planting, and to see whether we should plant, and whether we should do so as a team. I have a burden for the people of Utah who do not know Christ as Savior.

I was born and raised in a culturally Christian home. For most of my life I rejected the gospel, yet if asked I would have called myself a Christian. I was considered a good kid, and therefore assumed to be a believer, so no one shared the gospel with me personally. That continued until I was seventeen, when one night I was confronted with the fact that I needed to be saved. It was then that I trusted in Christ's sacrifice, which paid a debt I could not pay.

I grew quickly after that, and my mentors recommended I attend Frontier School of the Bible in LaGrange, Wyoming, to be grounded in the Word. Near the end of my first year I was asked to serve as a counselor at Camp Rock in Redington, Nebraska, and I ended up serving there for five summers. After that first summer, our team began to form, with church planting in Utah in our sights, and we have worked toward it ever since. The two years after I graduated were full: I spent a year as an intern at Cornerstone Church in Utah, where my burden for the people there grew and I learned some hard, needed lessons. We realized we were not as ready as we thought and that we should move more slowly. Partly for that reason, and partly because of Covid, Mitch and I spent the next year back at Camp Rock before coming to Utah for an apprenticeship. It is good to be back, with so many opportunities to share truth right at our doorstep.
