Ben serves as TBM's Director of Administration, having moved from church planting and pastoral ministry in Utah into a support role at the home office.
Our Ministry
Ben and Sarah serve with Tentmakers Bible Mission in one of the many support roles that give other TBM missionaries the ability to keep serving where they serve. When they think about what God has called them to do, they are often reminded of Aaron and Hur, given to Moses in Exodus 17 to support him in fulfilling what God had called him to. They seek to be that kind of support to TBM missionaries on the field.
In 2003 they joined TBM as church-planting missionaries and moved to Spanish Fork, Utah, interning with two area pastors to learn Utah's culture and ministry needs. Ben then served six months as interim pastor at Grace Bible Church in Springville before beginning the work of planting Harvest Bible Church in Spanish Fork. During that time God showed Ben that his gifts were suited to supporting others in ministry rather than leading from the front. Eighteen months into the church plant, they were asked to rejoin Grace Bible Church, by then graduated from TBM, as assistant pastor, and they left TBM to serve there until March 2011.
Those years further defined Ben's gifts in administration and organization. When TBM approached them in early 2011 about a home-office staffing need, they saw it as the natural next step. Ben now serves as Director of Administration in LaGrange, Wyoming, handling financial, secretarial, and communications operations, and working to build the infrastructure that lets TBM better serve current and future church-planting missionaries.
About Us
Ben
I was born in western Colorado into a Christian home and received Christ at seven. At fifteen my family moved to Fort Collins, north of Denver. In high school I began to understand that God would call me into full-time ministry someday, though I didn't want to think too hard about the details since I had other plans. Near the end of high school I met and began dating Sarah, who lived two hours away. After working for a year following graduation, I moved to be near her and started college aiming for computer science. Three semesters in, God redirected us to Frontier School of the Bible for ministry training. There He placed on our hearts a burden for the gospel among Mormon people in Utah. We served in church planting for eight years before God directed us to our current role at the TBM home office.
Sarah
I was born into a home where the Lord is honored. My siblings and I watched our parents walk with the Lord, serve their local church, and long to see people come to know Christ. I was saved as a young child and grew up in a wonderful church family. In high school my parents were called as missionaries and we moved to Colorado, where my father served in the home office of their organization. I felt privileged to learn from those men and women through the highs and lows of the mission field. Ben and I married in 1999, attended Bible school together, and joined Tentmakers Bible Mission at graduation.
