Envision gives you that experience. We connect you with TBM missionaries doing real church planting work in countries around the world. You won’t observe from the sidelines. You’ll participate. You won’t get a sanitized version of missions designed for short-term visitors. You’ll see daily life as it actually is.
What Makes Envision Different
Church Planting Focus
Every Envision opportunity connects to church planting. You might encourage missionaries who are planting churches. You might participate directly in church planting activities. You might train under missionaries preparing you to plant churches yourself. But the common thread runs through every level: churches planting churches.
This isn’t arbitrary. Church planting is TBM’s primary purpose. Our short-term program serves that larger mission. We don’t offer general missions experiences disconnected from our core calling. We offer focused opportunities that advance the work of establishing reproducing churches.
Flexible Design
We design trips around your availability, calling, and readiness. You’re not fitting into a predetermined schedule or structure. A college student on summer break needs something different than a recent graduate exploring long-term calling. A church group wants a different experience than an individual testing the waters. We adapt to serve you rather than forcing you to adapt to us.
Future-Focused Approach
We’re not offering mission tourism. We’re helping you discern God’s call for your life. Every Envision level is designed to move you forward in clarity about whether God is calling you to cross-cultural ministry. Short-term missions should answer questions, not just create warm feelings. We want you to return home with a clearer picture of what God might be asking from you.
Ministry-Centered Experience
You’ll work alongside career missionaries doing real ministry. You’ll see what daily life looks like on the field. The good days and the hard days. The exciting breakthroughs and the slow, grinding work of language learning and relationship building. The spiritual victories and the discouraging setbacks. This honest exposure to missionary life helps you make informed decisions about your future.
Relational Depth
You’ll build genuine relationships with missionaries and local believers. These connections continue long after you return home. You’ll pray for people you know by name. You’ll follow ministry updates about places you’ve experienced personally. You’ll have missionary friends who can answer your questions about cross-cultural ministry from their own lived experience.

Four Levels of Engagement
Envision offers four distinct levels, each designed for a specific purpose. The primary distinction isn’t duration. It’s purpose. What are you trying to accomplish? What questions are you asking? Where are you in your journey of discerning God’s call?

Mission Trip — Encourage Missionaries
Some missionaries serve in isolated locations with limited Christian fellowship. Others work in spiritually dark places with little visible fruit. All of them need encouragement. A mission trip brings that encouragement while giving you brief exposure to a specific ministry context.
You’ll serve in practical ways that support the missionary’s ongoing work. You might help with children’s programs, assist in construction projects, participate in community outreach, or support whatever the missionary needs most during your time there. The focus is on blessing the missionary and learning from what you observe.
Who This Serves
College student groups, church missions teams, and individuals who want to experience cross-cultural ministry without a long-term time commitment. You don’t need to be considering missionary work yourself. You simply need a desire to encourage those who are and to see what God is doing in other parts of the world.
Enrich
Vision Trip — Experience Missions
A vision trip goes deeper than a standard mission trip. You’ll spend time learning language basics and understanding cultural dynamics. You’ll engage in ministry with guidance from experienced missionaries. You’ll participate in the daily rhythms of missionary life rather than just visiting for a week.
The goal is personal experience that helps you understand what long-term missions requires. You’ll return home with concrete knowledge about language learning, cultural adjustment, ministry strategy, and the realities of church planting. This experience forms a foundation for future decisions about cross-cultural ministry.
Who This Serves
Students with a genuine interest in missions who want to explore whether God might be calling them to long-term service. This includes Bible college students, recent graduates, and young adults not currently in formal education who are asking questions about their future.
Engage
Internship — Develop Skills
An internship means sustained ministry involvement under the mentorship of an experienced missionary. You’ll participate in church planting activities, discipleship, evangelism, or training. You’ll take on real responsibilities. You’ll learn by doing, with someone experienced available to guide and correct you.
This level helps you develop practical ministry skills in a cross-cultural context. You’ll learn how to navigate cultural differences, communicate across language barriers, and contextualize biblical truth for a different cultural setting. You’ll also test whether you have the temperament and gifts for long-term cross-cultural ministry.

Who This Serves
Students doing formal internships through Bible colleges like Frontier School of the Bible. Also individuals exploring options for future ministry who may or may not be sure about their long-term plans. You’re serious enough to commit several months but still in the process of discerning God’s specific call on your life.
Entrust
Apprenticeship — Be Discipled
An apprenticeship is intensive preparation for church planting ministry. You’ll train under experienced missionaries who will mentor you in both the skills and character required for effective long-term service. You’ll take on increasing responsibility as you demonstrate readiness. You’ll be discipled, not just trained.
The missionaries you work with will invest in you personally. They’ll observe how you handle stress, disappointment, cultural confusion, and spiritual opposition. They’ll help you develop strengths and address weaknesses. They’ll prepare you for the realities of missionary life in ways no classroom can.
You’ll finish the apprenticeship with clarity about your calling and readiness to pursue it. You’ll have developed relationships with experienced missionaries who can continue mentoring you. You’ll understand what long-term church planting requires and whether God has equipped you for that work.
Who This Serves
Future TBM missionaries and those wanting to partner with TBM for the long term. You’ve already discerned that God is calling you to cross-cultural church planting. Now you need preparation. This level equips you to step into long-term ministry with confidence.
Envision Workshop
Once a year, TBM hosts the Envision Workshop. This multi-day event brings together students, young adults, and anyone exploring God’s call to cross-cultural ministry. We combine teaching sessions on missions, testimonies from current missionaries, practical training in cross-cultural skills, and information about TBM’s approach to church planting.
The workshop serves two purposes. First, it provides quality missions education regardless of whether you ever participate in an Envision trip. You’ll learn biblical foundations for missions, understand different ministry strategies, and hear honest perspectives on missionary life. Second, it introduces you to Envision opportunities and helps you discern which level might fit where you are in your journey.
We designed the workshop to be accessible. You don’t need to be a Bible college student or have prior missions experience. You simply need curiosity about how God might use you in His global mission.
